Dear Parents,
Welcome to the CELTIC REC ACADEMY, I hope you are as excited as I am to work with the players and see them improve week to week. Our main objective and focus this year is player development using Technical skills.

The Rec Academy will prove to be an asset to the club and a great way to increase the level of the game bringing self esteem and tactical awareness to the dedicated players who train in this program.

I have the utmost confidence in the staff. They are not only high-level soccer coaches, but they are also, and more importantly, quality people who genuinely care about children.

We look forward to meeting each of you and to working with your children.

David Vargas
Girls Academy

Director David has over 14 years of youth soccer coaching experience and is a professional soccer trainer with a National "D" License and National Youth License. David is also a Grade 7 USSF Referee. He has three daughters that play soccer, his two youngest with the Arroyo Youth Soccer Club and his oldest received a scholarship to play soccer for the University of Texas at San Antonio women’s soccer team.

He specializes in developing, encouraging, and empowering young players to excel and brings a positive attitude that allows the youth player to unlock his or her full soccer potential.

BOYS Academy (For U8, U9 and U10)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from
6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Field #1

Cost:
$25.00 per month fee

WHAT IS AN ACADEMY?
An academy is a curriculum based soccer school where U8 - U10 boys & girls recreation soccer players are placed in a professional, progressive development atmosphere. The aim is to prepare the serious soccer player for playing at the highest levels later in their career. The academy is also an arena where new coaches and trainers are taught and groomed.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?
It takes roughly 12 years to develop the complete soccer player. By introducing players to correct professional soccer training at the right age, we give them a foundation for success in HAYSC’s Celtic Soccer Program and beyond! HAYSC Academy is the only STYSA approved professional training academy in Harlingen and the surrounding area. We aim to challenge young soccer players with our expertise and the most current training methods in the world of soccer.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is the Complete Soccer Player. The most important teacher in soccer is the game itself; this coupled with precise coaching is our formula for success. We balance fun, engaging games with professional, dynamic instruction. We aim not only to develop our players, but also our coaches so as to raise the level at HAYSC. We build the complete soccer player by focusing on four main points:

Technique
Tactics
Physical
Psychological.

WHEN IS THE ACADEMY?
The Academy operates during the fall and spring soccer schedule.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
You may register at the soccer office or on-site on Field 1 at the Harlingen Soccer Complex from 5:45 – 6:15 pm.
