Tourney News
Dear Soccer Friends and Colleagues,
Regrettably, we are forced to cancel our Labor Day Cup Tournament that was to be held over the Labor Day weekend. We exhausted all options prior to making this decision, but we have no choice due to the circumstances . In order to hold a first class at our new Soccer Complex that you would be proud to attend and that is representative of our Club and the City of Harlingen , one of the most critical factors is the condition of the fields and having an excellent surface upon which to conduct the games.
The twelve inches of rain that fell during the week of July fourth created some problems and delays for contractors with the turf grass at our new Soccer Complex , and this was overwhelmingly compounded by Hurricane Dolly and the torrential twenty-four inches of rain we received. The end result is that the turf grass sustained tremendous damage to the point that it will not be in playable condition in time for the tournament.
We apologize again for having to cancel the tournament, and we hope that you will join us for the event in 2009. We are also conducting our December "Christmas Cup" Tournament , which will also now serve as the inaugural kick-off event at our new state of the art Soccer Complex. For those teams who had already registered for the Labor Day Cup, we will offer a $75.00 discount towards the entry fee of the Christmas Cup to compensate you for your inconvenience.
